I’m Back!

I’ve been ruminating over several things for the past few months, and have purposely held off writing because I did not want to offend more people than usual.  My next post probably will do just that.

 I had lunch with a friend who finally summarized why so many people support Trump.  It should have been obvious to me.

 In the 50's and 60's any White male who wanted to work had plenty of opportunities.  If he went to college or a professional school, the path to a good living was wide open with little competition from women (half the population), none from people of color (15% of the population), and virtually none from recent immigrants.

 A White male without a degree in my town of St. Louis could get a job as a fireman or policeman and earn a comfortable living.  Or he could work in one of the three auto plants or the brewery.  The same was not true for people of color, women or the few immigrants that were here. White women could marry White men and have a good life in a one-earner family.

 MAGA means just that.  Bring us back to a time when White men had all of the opportunities and White women could stay at home.  Black people, whom MLK was trying to help when he was assassinated in Memphis, were relegated to working as garbage collectors.  The MAGA supporters don’t seem to care that Biden-type policies have provided them with healthcare and other services.  All they see is their privileged way of life disappearing.
