A Fun Weekend Part 1

I spent the past weekend on a short trip to NYC and Philly.  The first trip was to meet some friends and relatives and see some shows, and the second was for a mini high school reunion billed as a 75th birthday party.

New York was packed and expensive, even more that pre-Covid.  I stayed in a very modest hotel, and am embarrassed to say what it cost.  There were even lines at the pretzel and hot dog vendors, who had raised their prices accordingly.  There was a shocking number of homeless and trash all over.  While it's always exciting to go to Times Square, just walking around took a lot of time an energy especially to cross the streets.  The number of costumed characters trying to make a dollar for posing in pictures has exploded.

I saw Guttenberg the Musical with Josh Gad and Andrew Rannels, which was very funny.  Good singing and worth it.  Then I saw Shucked the Musical, which also was fun.  Terry Schnuck from St. Louis is a producer.

I walked up to Lincoln Center on Saturday for lunch with friends, and looked at the brokerage listings for some condominiums along Broadway.  I understand that there are people who can afford mid-seven figures for a condominium, but didn’t realize there were so many.  Where do all the people who work in the restaurants and drive the cabs live?

It took the subway back south, which was shockingly clean.  And some genius figured out a way for people to just swipe their credit cards to pay for a ticket.
